Hi obtained a 06 liberty CRD a few weeks ago with a broken timing belt. Replaced the belt lifters etc got it all in time and running and while we where in their did the weeks stage 1 egr kit. Have not done any tu Jeep runs great sometimes and sometimes it goes to like 5hp mode will barely rev above 1000 rpm and wont pull itself out of a pot hole. You can play with the throttle pedal some it seems like then all of a sudden it takes off like a rocket ship squealing the tires and burning rubber. May be fine for 100 foot and may be fine for 10 miles and does it again. Has the normal egr delete codes in it and has a code for fuel temp (i have a new housing here going to install tomorrow) But with such random inconsistency like that i don't see it being any of these codes. Or is this normal for a crd that has been deleted but not tuned yet. Everything i read said i would be fine to run it would just have a cel Any Ideas ps I own a diesel repair shop specializing in ford trucks so we are pretty versed in the basics but this has left me with 0 Direction Thanks Travis |

No, you should not be seeing these symptoms. Maybe you're just gulping in air through a melted fuel heater connector? I'd wait and see if the new fuel head fixes it. In case you haven't already figured it out this is a common problem with these. |

I'll be doing a lift pump as soon as I find the darn apex terminals. I would start by bleeding the head and replacing the quick connects at least. Look into a lift pump after that (or while you're replacing the lines) |

Bear in mind the 2006 LHD CRD has a known problem that the wiring harness goes behind the Fuel Filter Head Mounting Bracket and can get crimped there causing solid or intermittent shorts of wires to chassis or to other wires. It is worth your while to remove that bracket and have a good look in that area for problems either present now or problems that may present themselves in the future. There is also a Front Control Module in front of the battery on the left fender...can get exposed to water, mud, snow etc. This controls the Communication Bus that drives all the electronic models. ![]() |
