Just wondering who has tried a 205 deg F thermostat and how well it has worked through summer?

Especially if you have towed heavy up grades :JEEPIN:

Sorry I can't offer any experience with using a 205 degree thermostat. I have turbodieselfreaks thermostat housing and using the supplied 201 or 202 degree thermostat. No issues over ~10,000 miles of use (I have not towed with it). I would be a bit concerned with the electric fan kicking on as I understand it runs when coolant temp hits about 203 degrees? This would be detrimental to efficiency.

I don't know of any 205 deg thermostats available but I'm also running the TDF machined stat with the included 203 degree unit. According to Stant, it should start to open at 203 ±3 degrees, and I find that to be accurate. It cycles between 197 and 201 or 203 as I'm driving and watching Torque Pro. It should be fully open at 15-20 degrees above rated value. http://www.stant.com/index.php/english/ ... ermostats/

I haven't towed anything with it installed but last weekend I drove up to the mountains fully loaded with 3 people and camping gear. AC was blasting and we were pushing it up a mile long winding grade at 30-35mph. Maximum coolant temp hit 211F, which is not concerning to me.

But running a thermostat with that high a rating, you need to be thinking about if your fan clutch will be starting to engage all the time just during normal driving, robbing efficiency. I'm doing some testing right now to log that, since my Hayden clutch is supposed to start engaging at 170F.

Yes exactly. I'm finding that at 210F water temperature, air temperature off the stack is 190F.
