They are darn near impossible to find.
Try to see if you local mopar dealer can order one.
Otherwise, keep an eye on eBay and Craigslist.
Maybe you can find someone who is parting out a broken CRD.

I have been wondering if an Audi TTS export intercooler (part #1K0145803P) can be modified without too much hassle. The dimensions are close.

I just purchased a new oem from a dealer in Texas. They have an online store and had a deal where the intercooler was under $500 bucks. Unfortunately however, the first one I recieved was damaged and now they need to order a new one again. Pain in the booty. The problem with a full aluminum intercooler is all of the mounting hardware for the radiator is built into the plastic cap

These are the OEM part numbers for the Jeep 2.8 CRD CAC:
Cooler. Charge Air 52079700AB; 52079700AA $502 plus shipping from Mopar Overstock...
http://www.moparpartsoverstock.com/showAssembly.aspx?ukey_assembly=915963&ukey_product=6740652

Two are listed on eBay, both in europe, one new, one used. New one in England even with shipping is much lower
price than new one from Mopar here in US... $203 plus $92 shipping...
http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2047675.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H1.TRS5&_nkw=52079700AB&_sacat=0

I wonder how close the Jeep 3.0 diesel CAC is to our 2.8 CRD's??? Anyone got a 3.0 Jeep diesel that can compare dimensions?
They can be bought for less than 200 dollars from Mopar here in US..
Charge Air Cooler 55116860AB or 55116860AC (3.0 diesel)

Thanks for the replies!
$500!?? I'd pay that of it were all aluminum and not prone to having the stupid plastic seals leak.
I've heard of a couple people doing custom intercooler a but they never seem to want to share on parts and information :5SHOTS: bds suspension did it once; maybe I'll give them a call Lols.
I thought about just ordering a universal aluminum one and custom mounting it on.

$500 is cheap money, go to any dealer and they want $700 and change. For the intercooler setup i had on my Subaru i paid nearly $1000. The problem with the liberty is that the intercooler is an integral piece of the mounting for the radiator and there are brackets that hold things in place that are not easily recreated.

Im in the process of installing an ebay special 2.5" intercooler in my 02 CRD....I can tell you it's not an easy thing to do... I removed the stock intercooler, rerouted the condenser connections and attaced the condenser directly to the radiator, and had to modify the transmission cooler lines a little.... But it all fits...

I have a Liberty CRD and WK CRD and the intercoolers are not even close to the same size or anything. The main problem I see is the unique size of the Liberty intercooler, its thin and rather large area compared to other intercoolers you can easily obtain. I have found an intercooler core the size I need, but its made by Bell Intercoolers and just the core is $600. Unless you get a bunch made in China it is either going to be expensive or require some modifications to other components to get something to fit. I will probably make a couple, but I really want one that flows better than stock and has 2.5" inlets and outlets. I have a Garrett GTB2060VK sitting in the shop that really wants to replace the stocker.

The price on the WK intercooler seems wrong, plus last time I check they were on national back order.

The BDS intercooler is just a plain CXRacing intercooler that would require a ton of extra parts to make it work and some custom fabrication. Unless you can do it yourself it will not be cheap.
