On a trip to Eastern Washington last weekend the Jeep went into limp mode - or so it seems. I was about 3/4 of the way up Blewett Pass in 90 degree weather with the A/C going, when a check engine light came on. This is not an atypical drive or conditions, but for some reason the issue arose. For he last 1/4 of the climb, the Jeep would not go above 50 and the torque was significantly diminished. Now, the CEL is constant and the vehicle is still in limp mode. Characteristics are slow acceleration, low torque, and an absolute top speed of 70 mph in perfect conditions. I changed the fuel filter, air filter, and checked the CAC hoses and oil. All are good. Note that fuel mileage is still great at 28-29mpg. I get the following codes from the readout: P0110 Intake Air Temperature Circuit Malfunction P0093 Fuel system leak detected – large leak Wiring, fuel pressure sensor, mechanical fault P0105 Manifold abosolute pressure (MAP) sensor/barometric pressure (BARO) sensor – circuit malfunction Wiring, MAP sensor, BARO sensor, ECM P0513 Incorrect immobilizer key Immobilizer system After clearing the codes, only p0110 and p0105 still persist. Any ideas? |

Have you downloaded the 2006 Service Manual which will help you chase up those codes for possible fixes? The 2006 CRD has a known problem that the wire harness going behind the fuel filter head mounting bracket gets pinched by the mounting bracket which can cause wires in the harness to chafe to chassis. Remove the mounting bracket and check the wiring behind it for damage. Manuals are here:http://www.colorado4wheel.com/manuals/Jeep/KJ |

If all those other codes clear out and never return, then the p0105 and p0110 codes are your primary problem. Looks like either your MAP sensor is bad or it became unplugged. Lately I have been having problems where the problems were not the sensors but the harness connectors to the sensors. I reccomend replacing the MAP sensor and if the problem persists, replace the harness connector to the MAP sensor. |
