Hello!
I found the skid plate thread but many of the posts there are rather old so I thought I would ask my fellow CRD inmates-I'm looking to replace my stock aluminum skid plate and curious what some of you might be using and perhaps a link to that company?
Currently, the bolts that hold the current plate in place are stripped so I will need some time to pull the old one. Thanks!

Fairly certain that stock ones are steel. I just use them.

Yeah, steel. The bolts get pretty badly corroded and pretty quickly, so much so that I lust left mine off last time I removed it about 10 months ago.

There was a company, I think ASFIR, was the name, that made aftermarket aluminum skid plates. Boiler, one of the members on here used to make an Aluminum gas tank skid as well.

Drive on over to my house, and I'd be happy to mount my steel skids on your Jeep. I'll make due with those old aluminum skids

You guys are probably right about being steel...For some reason I was thinking it was aluminum the last time I was under it. I have to install my sliders this weekend so I will be under it again. The bolts at the end of the plate are sticking out so I guess the PO was messing with it at some point.
Perhaps I will just keep the old one in place since it doesnt sound like many of you have messed with them. Thanks for the info!

caveat on that steel -

the original 05-06 skidplates were thinner than the 02-04 skids

I bent the OEM - ordered a replacement 02 version from Jparts and it was thicker
