So I'm looking to pull the trans soon to do the euro tc and a trans go hd shift kit. A lot of people are saying not to mess with the trans oil pump. The HD kit comes with upgrade parts for the pump. I'm thinking it'd be nice to save $400. Thoughts?

Just went through this. Trans shop did an update to my pump, it was a $26 part. Also, take a look at Florida Torque converters. Love mine.

You go with the "hemi" configuration?

No, I talked with the guy at FTC and Keith at GDE, both poo-poo'd the idea. I think others have gone that route to get a stronger converter for less money, and the merits / liabilities are still up for discussion, but if you're going to get a HD converter custom built it just didn't make sense to screw with it. Florida TC's set up a unit just blueprinted for the diesel with a lower than stock stall speed, they knew exactly what I had and what I needed and it works flawlessly. And the price sure was right.

From what I've read the upgraded pump is not usually needed, but the old ones can leak. Also, you can't get the seal for the old pump, the one that you can see at the cover. People have had fine luck with using the old seal, but sure would suck if it leaked and you had to drop the trans again.

Dang, I wonder what Keith thinks of the idea. Just not worth the risk, or does he know something more about the hemi TC? I'll be installing mine soon, but then again, I drive extremely long dirt roads where the TC is never locked, so I'm hoping the extra "hook-up" will help my MPG's. I'll just swap it out if it sucks... What did the Florida TC cost?

I would skip the euro and go hemi or custom. I've run the euro since 2012. It doesn't shudder, but the stall is too high for my liking.

Thanks for the input . I ended up getting the pump in case there is a leak. Best case I return it. Anyone know if the replacement (RL009879AE) comes with the seal? Couldn't find a separate part number for it.

The seal should be installed in the pump, and it looks like that part number comes up as a kit, so all the front cover seals should also be included.

just got the credit card statement today. Florida unit was $359 plus $50 to have UPS bring it to the opposite corner of the country (Washington). Dang thing was HEAVY.

Not bad at all. I think I was out about $260 for my "hemi", but you have a sure deal. I'll have to get one of those if I don't like the hemi.
