I found this on E-bay, anyone know if these are ok to use as a replacement instead of buying the complete turbo, the part numbers all match up as I have confirmed with mine but wanted to know if someone has gone this route before I put out $250 for one. Thanks.

I dont know of anyone who has done a turbo cartridge replacment.

Just going off the pictures, it looks like that cartridge does not include any of the parts that make it a variable vane turbo. You would have to transfer all those parts onto the new cartridge during assembly.
I have no idea how difficult that is and if you dont know what you are doing could cost you more in the end.

It has to be balanced on a fancy balancing machine, or so I've heard. There's a LOST member who said he had good luck with a place that rebuilt his for 6 hundred and something. That's almost half a new Garrett. I wouldn't mess with the internals myself as when they go they tend to take out the entire engine :2cents:

Thanks for posting this. I'm seriously considering doing this instead of purchasing an all-new turbo. I'll take a closer look at my dead one tonight and make a decision.

It has a return policy, and says that it is already balanced...

NO NO NO NO NO.

Garrett will not even rebuild our turbos.

You are wasting time, money, and risking your engine in entirety.

You have been warned, I've done my good deed for the day.
