Im a new CRD owner who has discovered an issue that really bugs me. My CRD won't rev above 3000rpm. When I gun it, petal to the floor, it seems to go into some sort of limp mode and doesn't change gears or accelerate until I ease up on the pedal and I can feel it change the gears. Only thing I've done on it so far is install a Fumoto F104S valve because my oil pan thread was stripped and I had a slow leak. Next week I'll be changing the transmission oil and filters. Should I change any other liquids? I'm looking to do an Eco Tune next but not sure if it'll mess things up worse with this strange limp mode issue. Any experience with this or thoughts/suggestions woukd be appreciated. The Jeep has 200,000km on it btw. |

Is the check engine light on? Do you have a code scanner? Its probably going into some sort of limp mode due to a bad sensor or something. A code scanner will help you figure out where to start. What you describe sounds like what happens when the little sensor on the side of the air filter box lid is unplugged. |

Still, check the sensor on the air box lid. If that sensor is plugged in then scan for codes. |

low turbo pressure? bearings in it... is the air filter clogged up? fuel filter clogged? |

![]() Strange thing is after I gunned it and pushed it for 10min it went limp again and wouldn't accelerate well. Shut off the engine and when I turned it back on and acceleration was restored to normal again. Could Rev it to 4500rpm again with a quick acceleration. 20DDan -2005 Jeep Liberty CRD Limited- |

its things like that that make car guys go crazy! glad the issue was found easily! still, maybe think about a drop in K&N filter. the turbo would like that. |

The air filter is pretty clogged so I'm going to get a new one tomorrow. The mystery remains that after I put the pedal to the floor within 10min I lose acceleration until I shut off the car and start it again. I'll borrow an OBD II reader to see what codes I get. 20DDan -2005 Jeep Liberty CRD Limited- |

When you reved the hell out of it, the boost stayed high for too long, throwing the code, and forcing the ECU to protect the engine. Now, unless you are drag racing, you should never have to rev that engine above 3000 rpm. The little diesel makes peak torque right around 2000 rpm. These engines are already known to develop valvetrain problems. No need to force the issue. Lastly... Stick with a good paper air filter. The K&N lets too much dust through. |

My CRD regularly goes into limp mode and won't rev above 3000rpm. Been driving it like this for a year. P0105 air inlet pressure sensor circuit. The little sensor mentioned in your post. Replaced the sensor, no change. I just cancel the code and do not let the engine idle for more than 13 seconds or so and the code does not reset. Currently have a gearbox MS solenoid and temperature sensor fault. If these faults occur at the same time as the sensor circuit fault, limp made often does not occur. If it does, switch off and restart - usually ok until today, then cruise control had a little rest before waking up to work again. Crazy cars and sometimes not a lot of fun. As soon as you think you can work around a problem, a mutation occurs. Lots of luck, John |
