For the reasons unknown DCJ used wired tear drop headlights on our liberty and along with other issues the pathetic headlights make me mad. I had tried my hand at retro fitting HID projectors into OEM headlight beams but for lack of skills that didn't go too well for me . Lately the 7 inch round LED headlights have come down in prices and now i am thinking of exploring the possibility if we could mount them instead of our OEM headlights then i would be shedding tears of joy. There are couple of mounting brackets that Harley guys use maybe we could use that.
Any inputs / thoughts are welcome.

I have been thinking of using the led replacement bulbs in the headlamps and fog lights. Just have not committed yet.

The stock headlights rock! They put out lots of light in all the right places.

Source: Drive an XJ with sealed beam lights then decide to complain.

I'm largely with Sir Sam. DCJ used the best bulbs available that were legal to use in the US at the time of our CRDs were built; that's the known reason. Were there better but not legal bulbs available at the time; perhaps but DCJ chose not to break the law. Are there better legal bulbs or retrofits available today; have no clue.

But then I date to vehicles having either 1) a single 7" (IIRC) sealed bulb with 2 incandescent elements on each side or 2) dual 5" (IIRC) sealed bulbs on each side with incandescent elements in each. If you wanted to actually see down the road you retrofitted not very legal halogen driving lamps that were no where near as bright or well directed as the CRD OEM bulb.

Yep I'm perfectly happy with the OEM CRD lighting but then I don't do much night driving at anything resembling HIGH speed.
