 Post subject: Reusing valve cover gasket.

When reusing the valve cover gasket should you use any silicone or just reinstall and torque to required specs.

don't use silicone! you can put some red gasket maker locktite 518 ( big trucks detroit diesel engine use this sealant , works well ,silicone can plug your oil supply !!

You dont need anything on that gasket.
Just torque it down.

Replace it. It's in too deep to want to go back in to replace it later.

If it comes off intact just clean it and reuse it. I've done it a number of times without an issue.

+1, I have heard of many people reusing it without issues. Just follow the torque sequence from the manual and you're good to go.
