My favorite mod is my tensioner relocate which helped me remove 5 pulleys. 5 less bearing sets to worry about, replace, ect. Plus in conjunction with the electric fan, I can work on the engine with ease.
I think the most important ones are EGR delete of some kind, ARP's, and a lift pump. With those, the engine should run a very long time.
Please share with us how you managed to get rid of 5 pulleys??? I know some have done away with the viscous heater by running a shorter belt, but that is only one pulley less.
I am sure many inquiring minds on here would like to know how you done it...
I removed the AC, and VH (2 pulleys), and then 2 idler pulleys, and then the big pulley for the mech fan. There's another spot on the front of the timing cover for a tensioner (marine or EU version without VH?) that I noticed after I removed the mech fan mount. Just have to file the tensioner housing a few mils and it fits nicely in the spot. Oh, I have to put a little spacer to bring the tensioner out a few mils also to line up with the belt properly, but that was just a washer or two right behind the pulley itself. My belt goes all of the way from the power steering strait to the alternator, so I am probably going to cut the top part of the mech fan mount in order to put one idler pulley back into play to support the belt. But, I've been running for a few thousand without it, and the belt looks ok. I think you can do all of this and leave the AC in, just need a different belt. I just don't need AC, and my jeep is much happier with all of that crap gone. Not to mention better airflow across radiator and IC, and easy access to many things.
