I intend to replace my fuel filter. It is an export 2.8CRD 2003. it has a Racor head as standard and a very expensive looking fuel filter housing.

Do you have to buy the whole housing or are they replaceable filters? if so what size are they?

Those who have converted to Racor -

are normally using the R245 racor head and typically a R25S filter - that's 2 micron
(like BioH's writeup - http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=98&t=36977)

however those are the conversions - whether that filter will fit a stock Jeep - has not been confirmed

a couple of folks were going to try - but I don't remember them posting results

it looks the same in pictures -

also if you're ordering online - make sure they have a picture - I've seen some posting where it shows the filter paper only and list the same number

My 2003 2.8 crd had the racor filter and I purchased a replacement filter from a main dealer here in the UK and yes it was a 2 micron, Same as you are using for the modifications. Don't know why they replaced it with that cheap version on the 2005 on? cost saving I guess.
