I have an 05 Liberty Sport CRD, purchased in Aug 2015 with 140K on it. It appears to have an updated fuel filter head but I'm having problems with air in it. It seems I have to bleed it every couple of days. Does anyone else have this problem? Could it just need the filter replaced?

Had the same issue, eventually I cracked the filter housing from bleeding the air too much/over tightening. The new housing/filter did not solve the problem.

I made my bracket with a flat aluminum bar and a drill bit. Really low tech, the picture of the wire isn't good, I found a better description just can't recall where I put it. Basically theirs a wire going into the wiring harness that isn't connected on the other side. I spliced into that wire because I couldn't find the right connection for the harness. If I remember I correctly it was with with an orange stripe but i'm '06.

There are other options such as installing an intank lift pump. Also the eliminating the quick release hose connection at the tank may help (I did not do this).

Also replace the plastic lines at the tank while you are there. Plastic lines have quick connects which will pull the air without pump. The quick connect will NOT pull air once the in-tank lift pump is installed. So replacing them is an overkill but I did it any way for better reliability.

Does anyone know what diameter the hoses with the quick releases are? I think I'll try deleting those first. I do also have a new Fuel Head and filter that I can put in, bought it before I realized it had the update.

The supply side from the tank is the only one you need to worry about.
Its 3/8 fuel line.

I had small air leaks on my filter head, not bad enough to really effect the jeep all the much, but now that I have installed the in-tank lift pump I have the opposite problem. Fuel is dripping out of the fuel heater connection and it smells like diesel driving down the road.

mass-hole I'll bet you have the 1st gen filter head (both electrical plugs same color) not the 2n gen (driver side plug bright blue) in which case your fuel heater is fried and burnt the seal on the head side of the plug hence the leak. No really good way to seal it that I know of best upgrade filter head and wiring (idparts)
