Just paid about $57.60 for 3 gallons of T6 on Amazon. Just make sure to click the $25 coupon thingy.

I would love to see this deal in 15-40w which is what I use in my 5.9

Have you guys had good luck running this 5-40W in your CRD's? Since my new engine, I have been using Castrol Edge 5-40 which is a full synthetic. Thanks!

Ken

I like that it's a full synthetic diesel rated oil that I can get at walmart for less than $20/gallon.

I consider Shell Rotella T6 and Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck to be equivalent and swap between them based on whichever is on sale when I decide to buy some.

Both are available in a diesel rating (this is the most important part) and 5w-40 viscosity. If the little circle symbol on the back doesn't have "CH or CI or CJ" or a variation such as CH-4 printed in it... It is not a diesel rated oil and should not be used. CF is the lowest rating that should be used in the CRD, and further letters of the alphabet denote higher ratings than CF.

Yeah, if that Castrol isn't turbo diesel rated, it could destroy your $6k engine :dead: The TD rated oils manage the soot differently than non TD rated oils. I would expect at bear minimum that the turbo bearing and rollers would get wiped out fast.

I'm in the NW, I bet this price isn't too exciting to most of you closer to the refiners. I think it's about $25 a gallon with tax here.

I've seen those rebate stickers once before, and used them. Hopefully these 3 will show up with them also. Where'd you get them for $13 at?

It was through amazon. i think i paid $19 at amazon then got the $5 back via rebate. So it was $14 i guess. You dont need the sticker, just go to shells website and you can actually upload the amazon invoice and never have to mail anything.

Edit. I actually just went and checked, the single gallons are $19.57 then i saved another $2.94 for subscribe and save and then the $5 rebate. It was $11.63.

We've had Amazon Prime for over 2 years, best decision we've ever made. Anything that qualifies you get 2 day shipping for free, and you get Amazon Instant Video and Kindle book borrowing.

Plus, when deals like this pop up, you can capitalize.

For whatever it's worth the 3 gallon price and coupon Mountainman originally posted about is apparently available to anyone purchasing from Amazon. I don't know what the 1 gallon price is on Amazon for customers who are not Prime members, I am so cannot see it, but for Prime members it's $19.57 per gallon which is essentially the same as the 3 gallon deal after using the coupon.

More importantly if you go to http://www.shell.com/rotella/promotions ... otion.html you can score a $5 rebate form from Shell that's good for up to 2 rebates ($10) for any single person/household/address thru 10/31/2015.

This Shell Rotella deal is a fairly good one but recently I have used the Mobile Delvac ESP. Here is their rebate program and I bought gallons on sale for $19.95. They have a $12 rebate/ gallon. Ended up costing $8 per gallon.

Is that $8 shipped? Wow, if it is. Is that 5/40 or 0/40? I looked at the link ,and another site and gave up looking for the viscosity.

It gives a list of participating retailers so I bought it at a store.

It is 5W40 synthetic. Probably not much different that the Turbo Diesel Truck 5W40 although it has a much higher flash point. The viscosity ratings are near identical.

hmm, I see it's rated for diesels, I'd have to read up on the ratings to see if it's up to par. Hitting the road, I bet someone will chime in about whether or not it's a safe bet.

The Delvac is currently running strong in mine, nearly time for a change though. Think I'll order 6 of these and not worry about it for about 3 more changes.

Has this CRD engine required a Euro designed oil like the new V6 the Ram and Jeep are using? It has a whole different type of specs and if the regular stuff is used in the newer engines its not good for them. Just wondering if this is some of the problems that have occurred with the 2.8 engine.
