Every so often my dash brake light comes on and then may go off, but certainly does go off if I shut the Jeep down and turn it back on. I read somewhere where it could be the switch at the E-bake handle, but for the life of me I could not see it. The brakes don't seem to be dragging, and my reservoir is where its suppose to be. Any words of wisdom would be appreciated. Thanks Ken |

Does the brake light come on while you are pushing on the brake pedal? If so, it probably a real brake problem. If not, then it might just be the parking brake. |

Thanks Ken The newer KJs have a switch at the brake fluid reservoir which confers with the switch on the brake pedal that the pedal has actually been pressed....you sure you are not slightly resting your foot on the brake pedal sometimes? Bear in mind the 2006 CRD has a known problem that the Fuel Head Mounting Bracket can press on the wire harness behind it causing intermittent shorts down to the chassis...... it is worth taking this bracket off and carefully inspect all the wires in that area for chaffing to chassis. There must be a switch somewhere near the E-brake handle that switches the light Off when it is released....I will look in the circuit diagrams and Locations of Components to see if I can find it |

Thanks for the responses.... Yes, light does NOT come on when I press the brake pedal. Usually, driving down the highway and it comes on....Its very intermittent. Not always does it come on, but it seems to be coming on more now then before..... |

Which switch? The one at the E-Brake? Whats the best way to get to it? |

So if you pull the e brake, you see the dash light turning on? And are you saying that the same light turns on when you push the pedal brake? The E brake switch I believe is under the plastic that covers the E brake, but I have never took that apart, maybe the fsm will help with more details. |

No and yes...The brake light on the dash does come on if I pull the e-brake However, when I'm driving down the road, the brake light will come on for no apparent reason. Once I get to my destination and I turn off the vehicle, and turn it back on, the light will be off for a short amount of time-Usually coming on while driving down the highway and not braking. I hope this helps.... |

Does your abs light come on also? |

Yes, except, this light along with another two lights have been on since I have owned the vehicle. The brake light indicator is recently new, probably within the last week or two. |

If your abs and brake light come on together it might be a speed sensor. Mine had frayed wires back on top of the rear diff and it kept shorting out until finally the wires broke and kept the 2 lights on for good until I repaired it |
