Insurance wants to give $6100 they say they will get $1300 salvage value. What do I do! I apparently pulled out in front of two cars apparently the first car I did not see at all because he hit my front passenger wheel at 50 mph. Sheared the front suspension upright in half clean cut. I walked away a little sore so far. |

Check ebay for CRD auctions. Print them and show them to the insurance company. Also, are you interested in selling your "spare tire" veggie tank? |

Glad you are OK, but wow that sucks. You can fight with them about the value, (and I would) but in practice it probably won't get you too much higher. I think that they are right in wanting to total it out - Not sure that it would be worth the work to cut the motor out of the body, but that would be the only major things to sell besides the transmission and transfer case. Those all should be in decent shape if the body didn't completely collapse. How many miles on it? I'd run the KBB values with every option you know the thing has, and present those numbers to the insurance company. 6100 does seem low, but it is just the initial offer. |

I would counter. When my Outback was totaled, they told me initially "this is all we can do", which was a lie. I was able to increase it by around $1500 I believe. I wasn't at fault, however, so YMMV. |

Sorry to hear of your loss, glad yo made it out alright. Fight with the insurance Co., try to get a value of $8,600. Take all the modified veggie stuff off of it, find another with low miles and reinstall the veggie mods. Shake yourself off and be happy again. Are you still making your own fuel and how many miles on the jeep running with Veggie Oil? |

Awhile back I bought my totaled crd back for $1500. If you ve got space there is a heck of a lot of parts value in the crd. I rebuilt mine in Mexico. Cost me$6000. I m driving it right now. |

I plan on the buy back. And maybe turn it into some type of franken jeep project. We will see after I get it back. It was 140k veggie miles 210k total miles. I just did the timing belt and all of the pulleys. I will tell you what happens. |

I took the money from the insurance company and they kept my Jeep it is a dam shame wasting a perfectly good Jeep like that. It went to Co-part today to be auctioned off. It was really my wife's Jeep and she was Okay the first day then she realized I was not hurt and she was pissed for the next two weeks. We purchased a used Nissan Leaf as a replacement I have charged it 3 times at our house and she has charged it 3 times at work. I am betting that Leaf forums are boring. Well I am off topic I saw a Chevrolet Colorado Diesel Pickup truck. Sharpe real sharpe! This is my last post. Good Luck. It was my best grease vehicle ever. Possibly the greatest grease vehicle ever. I'm confused... She was pissed that you WEREN'T injured in a major accident? This makes no sense to me at all. Whatever you might think of the CRD, the truck gave its life to protect you - that is its most important job and design specification. Save the people. I'm disappointed that the buyback didn't happen, but I understand that you have your reasons. Be safe out there no matter what. If it was me, I would have purchased a Chevy Volt 2.0. Same electric performance for most trips, and still the option to go as far as you want to on gasoline. They are nice cars. Good luck with the Leaf, I can agree with you that the hybrid or electric forums are dull... Not a lot of vehicle enthusiasts purchase those. Try finding an active forum for the Toyota Corolla... Probably about the same level of activity. |

Robert That's because it was created to run Bio-diesel --- it came off of the production line with 5 gallons of Bio-diesel in the tank. It loves the stuff and it runs smooth with it, i use it all the time. Robert, tell me about your grease set up before you go. What was the itemized list of parts? |

I could not find a good volt for less than $15k the leaf was $10K out the door. Parts list: it is an easy conversion like an old Mercedes. Tank (coolant heated) Fuel filter (I used a Goldernrod Spin on 505 I still have 6 I just purchased) FPHE (12-16 plates) it was mounted by the back side of grill and insulated Injection Line heater (Fattywagon.com) Wrapped around the Common Rail) Two greasecar switching Valves ( One mounted to the battery tray, other on frame) Fuel line and fitting as well as heater hose to connect it. The heating was easier than an old Mercedes because I just removed that small piece of heater hose that goes to the EGR cooler And new hose there out of the engine and into the water pump. If you really want detail send me a PM and I will give you my number. |
