To begin with, the dealer diagnosed the engine with a hole in #4 piston. Via a camera down the injector hole. We secured a piston and sleeve for the repair. When we pulled the engine and got it tore down to the block, looked at the pistons, NO hole in any piston A little dis concerning to say the least. Any way new cams and rockers, head redone all marks were lined up before dis assembly, All front end parts had been replaced a couple hundred mile before this, reassembled and reinstalled in to jeep. It started and ran good right off. Got the inspection and emissions done now its good to go. Thanks to all for the information on here as to the pit falls you-all have fallen in to, and have past on to the forum followers. Thanks to the ones who made the fuel return manifold out of brass fittings, works great. I look at this engine and compare it to my CTD and wonder way on earth alot of stuff is attached to this engine. It could have been alot simpler. Like to see someone make a hot air grid for the intake and do away with the GLOW PLUGS. |

This looks interesting. Is it available by its self? does the intake heater also use the head glow plugs to? does it use the that circuit of the glow plugs. Looking for something that would eliminate the glow plugs entirely like the one Ram uses. |

Search this forum. There was a gent that modified a duramaxipad intake heater to install right where the weeks flange connects. Looked like a good idea. Read this: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=78704&hilit=Intake+heater+ebay |

Your main problem with a grid heater is a very reliable battery, or dual batteries. Weeks kit makes it easier to replace glow plugs. There is no kit that eliminates glow plugs, just adds the option of warming up the air. |
