I am in the process of fabricating a mechanical fan bracket elimination plate to make room for an electric fan. The plate will be fabricated from 1" thick aluminum using 1.25" aluminum round stock for the two idler pulley spacers. The plate will need an additional spacer on the back side where it bolts through the timing cover to the front of the block. This hole is the bottom most hole of the fan bracket that uses the looong bolt. I am planning to use 2" aluminum round stock for this spacer and tack weld it to the back side of the plate.

Does anyone have pictures of the engine side of the aluminum rear timing cover? I want to be sure the 2" round stock won't stress the cover when it is clamped to the engine block with the 2" round stock and the long bolt. I don't think it will, but a picture will help me be sure. Thanks.

hmm, I'll go check, but I don't think I have the rear cover off of one ATM. But, I probably will in a week when I go at a bad sleeve. I probably have you covered if no one else has one apart

Good pics, but unfortunately none show the engine side of the rear timing cover.

Basically a flat piece of aluminum, with the same outlines of the steel cover.

Sorry the pics did not work for you, but good to have for a future reference when you are replacing a part you cant see.

Yep, that's the front side.

jws84_02 sent a couple pics of the engine side of the timing cover with measurements. Thanks Josh! I have the information that I need.
