Just looking to connect with fellow owners in the greater Lake Tahoe area and learn about service options, etc. Like, who does your service work?

Also, have any of you used the GDE tunes? If so which ones?

How did the GDE tunes work for you?

Did you have any torque converter problems after the GDE tunes if you kept your stock TC?

Thanks!!

Erik

My son and I have both run the EcoTune on the OEM torque converter with no problems. I never experienced TC shudder and my son did only twice both very briefly when fully loaded and pulling a fully loaded 5X5 UHaul trailer, modest acceleration up a modest grade on the interstate. Noticeably cleaner exhaust, my rear bumper pre-tune as soot stained above exhaust and zero stain post-tune, ca. 20% improvement in mpg both in town and on highway. Worth every penny. Have no opinion on "hotter" tunes and OEM torque converter.

If you upgrade to the GDE stage II turbo though, as I did, you will need a TC upgrade

I had the shudder around 50mph until it shifted. I pretty much destroyed the stock TC by towing heavy, but if you drive carefully, you can most likely drive around the problem for several years.
But, if any shudder bugs you, and you hate paying attention every time you cross 50 mph, it will not be pleasant, or mine wasn't.

This was with the ECO tune, not full torque

Running the full torque eco. Love it. It's paid for itself twice. Once in fuel savings and once in not having to replace the emissions system.

I'm on GDEs hot tune and only had a few instances of shudder one of which was towing. Now that I am at 6500 ft asl I have zero issues with the tc as the power is down a bit

I'm on GDE's Eco Tune and my Liberty is my hauling vehicle and my DD as well. I've pulled Camaros, CJ5s, Grand Cherokee on my full size car trailer behind my Liberty without any issue. I highly recommend GDE tunes, like others have said, great bang for the buck. I've gotten 30.5mpg highway a couple of times with that tune, really you can't ask for anything else from a 4 door 4x4.

I forgot to mention that it is the best thing ever, just don't do it unless you're ok with maybe having to replace the TC in 5 years sort of thing :2cents:

As a side note. You can get a Hemi TC for $250, and probably find a shop to swap it for what, $500? $750, and the problem is solved hopefully. Then again, in CA, the labor might be twice that...
I don't miss the 2 years I had to live in that expensive state!

Gde eco tune prior to pulling a 12' enclosed trailer from Mobile Alabama to Fairbanks Alaska. Amazing customer service, amazing product.

Ft Ecotune for about 4 years, and very well worth every penny I paid. It has easily paid for itself in fuel savings at least twice over (I'm in England and our fuel is more expensive than yours), and the improvement in drivability is worth it alone. I've had no problem with the TC.
