I started having issues when braking. It is like I stop but then, it goes on a few more inches or maybe a whole foot more. Seems like the brakes are slipping. It is a bit dangerous. I first thought it was a problem on the transmission but I went to the Tires repair shop and the guy says it is the brakes that need to be replaces. The discs look very used and below the minimum mark for replacement. I was offered to replace it with another brand, not Chrysler or Mopar. The brand and model that they are telling me it is ok to use is: BAR BD5121 which are also 288 mm, 5 bolts and ventilated. Is this ok for my 2005 Jeep Liberty CRD? Thank you, |

I fit EBC discs and pads all round. The only thing you have to check with any company's rear discs is the size of the parking brake - there are 2 different sizes so I'd suggest measuring the parking brake drum in your rear disc to make sire you get the right size. |

Make sure brake fluid is still full. Fluid shouldnt look black. If anything but the brown color in the "lostjeeps.com" banner, then replace the fluid. Replacing brake lini gs to stainless steel is a price well payed for safty and fastet braking. If you dont wheel ebc is too hard for you and a waste of money. Just ask the sales man what fits your crd and go from there. Oem quality for the jeeps are usually the recomended. |

I now believe the problem is with the brakes pump because it was stopping and then after, it was going on a bit more. I think the cylinder in the pump must be leaking fluid there because of usage. The cylinder must have lost some thickness. |

Do you mean the Master Cylinder? Hydraulics either work or they dont. I guess we forgot to ask, but what is the behavior of the pedal? Before turning the engine on is the pedal hard? Does it get hard after pumping? Does it slowly lose pressure if you hold it? Before you go crazy look at the pads and the rotors. You have to replace those first anyway. |

Before you go crazy look at the pads and the rotors. You have to replace those first anyway. I replaced the front discs and pads today. The back ones were not looking that bad so I kept them. I still hear a terrible noise when I brake hard. The noise comes from the back. Maybe I should have replaced them as well. I am going on a road trip tomorrow and I wonder if it could be dangerous to do so... |

The front brakes do all the stopping when you're going forward, that's why they're bigger. I'd be careful backing up though. What is the horrible noise? Is it a grinding or a squealing? |

^^^ brakes should be configured out of the factory 60% front 40% rear or around those percentages but never 50/50. When braking the weight is tranfered mostly to the front axle. If brake pressure were split evenly between front and rear axle, the rear axle would skid until you come to a stop since most of the weight is on the front axle. I'll bet your rears are squeeking... Theres a plate that dampens the squeel. You should be able to see the plate on the pad. If not, thats your issue. Simce the rear pads have good material on them acording to you, theres nothing to worry about. Unless you hate the noise... |

The noise I hear is a grinding, not a squeaking coming from the back when I brake. I think I'll better replace the rear pads. |

 This is how the back side of the disc on one wheel looks like. It seems it is almost all destroyed on this side. The frontal side looks ok. I will replace the pads anyway. Maybe some othe day I eill have to replace the rear discs? |

Bro... Your pads and roatr need replaced... Rotars are gouged because the pads are only metal... Might aswell replace all rotars and pads. Your wasting money if you dont replace rotars. |

I agree with PAlifted. You don't have rotors or pads. Hopefully the heat didn't ruin the cylinders in the calipers. You are going to have to flush the brake fluid because I am sure that the fluid has been baked. Don't compress the piston until you open the bleeder because you will probably force sediment into the master cylinder. |

Yes, the grooves on that rear disc are too deep. They might ruin my new pads. |

Not even worth resurfacing the rotars. Unless you have one readily available. Just fork up the cash and buy new rotars. Regular non vented or drilled and slotted arent necicary at all since you have stock calipers and are still about factory weight. |
