I broke the small threaded elbow connection in my crown thermostat. Does anyone know of where to purchase one of those. I have been to a dealership and now three different auto parts stores. No one sells them.

I dont think that the plastic elbow is replacable. You would have to replace the whole thermostat.
What I did was find a screw that will fit tight into the hole, coat the threads with JBweld, and forced the screw into the hole. The rubber hose that goes up to the top of the coolant tank will have to be plugged too.
This will get you back on the road until you can get a new thermostat.

BTW,
If the screw plug in the thermostat holds, you can keep running like this for a long time if you re route your heater hoses.

I just upgraded to the HDS Model 001 Thermostat and still have my old one if you want it. Honestly though, I'd probably just replace it at this point.

flash is correct that part is not "replaceable" but I question the rest of his advice:
1. that fitting is the degas line and it serves two purposes as coolant heats and expands - a) bleeds any air in the system into the overflow tank and hence out of the cooling system and b) as coolant heats it expands so the excess is exported so to speak to the coolant tank and returns to the cooling system as the coolant cools of. By plugging this port you will, in effect, trap the expanding coolant inside the engine/radiator raising the pressure inside the system and potential blowing a weak point and creating hot spots due to the air that got into the system when the fitting broke. FYI in the olden days there was a hose connected to the radiator just under the radiator cap so when the cap partially opened excess coolant was vented to ground preventing an over pressure from occurring.
2. Options
a) if there is a stub of the fitting that will take a hose and a clamp just plumb it that way back to the coolant tank. No you cannot just leave it open as it's literally a hole in the coolant system
b) pm/email kapalczynski for the fitting thread. If it's a common one and you can remove the remains of the existing elbow then you can splice in a straight fitting (cannot do right angle due to other plastic fitting) with a threaded place on its side into which you can thread an adapter to create a right angle.
c) get a new thermostat

Its fixed for now. Yes I will get a new re-buildable thermostat at some time. For now I just re-threaded the hole and put in a 90 degree elbow. Problem solved for now. I still cant believe that for a three dollar part, I should throw away the thermostat and park the jeep until the replacement shows up its threaded for a reason.

A better bottom line.

It isn't better engineering, or a better thermostat, or a better deal for the customer or owner.

It's designed to break, fail, and make money.

It is threaded - and you are exactly correct, you need that and it is threaded for a reason. You don't "need" an elbow there however, and any nipple fitting will be perfect as a permanent fix. No need to sweat it if you have it connected to the coolant tank and it isn't leaking. Drive on.
