Hi all; long time lurker, first time poster. My parents gifted me a set of 7v Etechnos for Christmas, and I figure that I might as well do some EGR deletion while my hands are dirty. Is there any reason to get the Sasquatch stage two kit over the IDParts cooler bypass kit and plug? I obviously plan on getting the stage 1 kit as well, but am curious if anyone here has run an IDParts "stage 2" setup or has any particular aversion to it. Thanks! |

The coolant bypass is a good idea, the Weeks stage 2 kit comes with the plug and hose nipple too, but adds a cap for the exhaust manifold that you don't need if you just leave the EGR bolted to the side of the motor. It won't hurt anything being left there, and the coverplate from the elbow kit seals off the EGR so you don't have an exhaust leak. The only real benefit to the stage 2 kit is if you want to remove the EGR and cooler from the side of your motor entirely. If you do, use a healthy coating of ultra-copper or red RTV on the cap before you put it on the exhaust manifold, or it may leak a little bit. |

Plus, getting rid of all the EPA mandated garbage on the drivers side of the block makes servicing the glow plugs much easier.....along with almost everything else on that side of the engine. |

Thanks for the tips, guys. I am really looking forward to being rid of the EGR garbage in its entirety. Disabling it is comforting, but knowing all the piping is gone will let me sleep at least a little better at night. |

I highly recommend a flexible driver with bits and swivels for this project |

Duly noted. I'll be sure to grab one of those kits before I tear into this. |
