| Post subject: | Fumoto Drain Plug Issues |
Went to change out the oil plug with the Fumoto, I went to screw in the Fumoto and it bottom out and felt VERY VERY loose in the threads. Anyone with similar experience? The oil plug threads right away. Hopefully I'm being dumb and dont have a mis-labled package. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004TV ... ge_o01_s07 I used a 19mm to remove the old plug. Things just didn't feel right and I did not want to mess my oil pan up. Old one back in place.

Maybe your oil pan was already stripped and then re threaded for a larger size? Compare your fumoto to the drain plug and make sure they are the same size. |

I think you've got the wrong valve, nothing on that engine is American. If the original drain plug has been taken on and off more than about 3 times chances are very good that the pan threads are at least half stripped, especially if some wannabe He-Man high school dropout at the local kwicky-lube did the work. I had to drill out and oversize tap mine, it sounds a whole lot scarier than it actually is. You can easily drill the threads out with any cordless drill and then cut new threads with a tap, then get a fumoto valve to fit. I think I used an 18mm drill and 16mm threads. Since you're machining aluminum it's a snap. |

i have had same issue mine was re-tapped for oversize 18 mm bolt in there, i used fumoto 104 and it worked like a charm. |

I'd go ahead and order a 104. That way you have both on hand and can retap the threads when the time comes |

I was under same situation. Correct Fumoto but partially stripped threads. I had the oil plug out already so rather than waiting for the next fumoto and tap, I decided to 5-minute epoxy the the fumes I had at hand. Two oil changes later, my epoxy is still holding with no sign of leakage. FYI. |
