Wow! ... our little engine might get a reincarnation by Hendricks ... and maybe some revisions/improvements upon implementation? |

It looks like they are already advertising that they'll be producing them. http://www.commandousa.com/ |

The 2.8 in the JK (wrangler) is an entirely different motor and block from the 2.8 in the KJ. It has the same displacement, and is made by the same manufacturer. That is about it. |

Drop one off at the house. I'll test her for you..... Leave that 20mm on, I'll test that also. |

Good to know. Shows that I should do more diligent research before excitedly posting about something. ![]() |

Not really. A good analogy is something generational, like the difference between an XJ and a KJ. If you can really torn apart a XJ and a KJ you will see how much of the design actually is similar in a bunch of ways. Without knowing in full detail the newer 2.8, I would say this is a good analogy. |

I bet the JK engine is closer to this engine: http://www.trucktrend.com/features/1511 ... rst-drive/ http://www.roadandtrack.com/new-cars/fi ... rst-drive/ It is also made by VM motori and I understand it is a generational update to our KJ engine. |

Looking at the pictures in that TruckTrend article, that engine (I think is a VM A428) is very different from our R428 engine. The block has traditional main caps instead of the tunnel bore and main bearing carriers of our CRD engine. Also, the head is bolted on with only 10 head bolts instead of our 18. And previous articles I've read about it stated that GM redesigned the cylinder head and that the engines are being assembled in Thailand. The pictures also show the engine having a timing BELT ![]() |

like FLASH sad redesigned cylinder head on this engine is exactly what i seen when i worked for freight liner western star .truck dealer . we had mercedes _ detroit diesel engine 55 series 6 cylinder single heads ( we couldn't stop coolant leaks it had metal gasket with rubber o rings for coolant passages , tty bolts we had updated heads updated head bolts , finally they discontinued this engine (I liked but only problem was coolant loss) so M B redesigned it and called 400 series engine so my point is VM is very similar so they did updated to. |
