Post subject:  Won't crank below 10 degrees F

I have a starting problem that has me scratching my head. In cold weather (10F or lower) hop in turn key wait for glowplugs maybe twice turn the key to start and nothing no click nothing.(P0615) Pulled the starting relay jumped the contacts to the starter with key on and it starts. Put it back in and its good for the rest of the day. Further checking showed the start relay was not pulling in, checked voltage at relay 12v both sides of the coil, no path to ground, on finding this I ran a ground wire from the negative side of the coil to negative battery starts fine. From what I have read the NSS is really several switches in a combination for all positons all read by the ECM I have no shifting problems while driving so I am guessing/hoping those switches are ok. I am not sure where else a ground would be provided for the circuit.......anybody got any ideas?????

Also will the temp ground to the battery cause issues elsewhere (have not been driving with it in)

Thanks
Mike
