Unlike others who purchased a new diesel, I will continue using my 06 CRD as my daily driver. It has been more reliable for past 55k miles than the first 100k miles. I put about 50 miles/day on her and another 300-350 miles towing a 2 place sled trailer each weekend. She ain't perfect but she does the job.

My newest addition to my "fleet" is a small upgrade which has 440 HP and 860 ft-lbs of torque and is replacing my '13 F150 Longbed Ecoboost with 11,300 lb tow package.

2015 F350 Platinum 172" wheel base, 8 foot bed, with EVERY imaginable option to include dual alternators, FX4 package, snow plow package, heated/cooled seats, factory "puck" 5th wheel system, retractable running boards, bedliner, Load Range E Michelins on premium 20" wheels, moonroof, etc.etc..

Fuel economy on I-25 was 18.1 mpg versus 13.4 mpg on my F150 Ecoboost with 3.73 axle and I expect towing mpg to be better than the 6 to 7.9 mpg I got on my F150 EB>

I upgraded to the F350 because I ran out of payload capacity and am planning on "double towing" my ATV trailer in back of my 5th wheel this summer. Wife is tired of driving a separate vehicle to tow the UTV trailer.

The Ecoboost is a great truck and is more truck than most need but to be honest it is more boost than eco.

Now having all diesels in my household, I gotta figure out to get rid of old gas when I pull my toys out of storage.

I saw you post up on the ecoboost forum and mention that you had a liberty CRD. That is a sweet truck.

I realized the ecoboost is a lot more truck than I need at the moment and kinda wish I had gone with a ecodiesel RAM.

Its a small world on the interweb.

I enjoyed owning my Ecoboost; it was a very nice rig and I will miss it. My F350 is a little overkill but I don't think we'll ever outgrow its capabilities and payload capacity. I really do like the fact that it gets better fuel economy than my Ecoboost but that wasn't the reason I purchased it.

I love my 2 diesel Jeeps (she has a WK and I have her leftover KJ) and hope they last forever. I still use my KJ to tow my snowmobiles almost every weekend and I hope that I can get another 155k miles out of her.

We are entirely a diesel household now. It will take a lottery winning to buy a replacement for my KJ. It'll be a tossup between the Chevy Colorado diesel or Ram ecoboost if that day ever comes.

Since you own an Ecoboost you should be familiar with its fuel dilution issues which I mitigated by using 5w40 in the summer and 0w40 in the winter months.

Thanks,
D

With some sweat equity, these things seem to resurrect nicely.

I did notice a very strong fuel odor when I changed the oil the first few times on my EcoBoost. It was bad. I ended up getting a catch can at around 9000 miles which has almost entirely eliminated the issue. I think the catch can itself is a bit of a farce in terms of catching the gunk, but I think rerouting the PCV lines pre-turbo made a solid difference in getting the fuel to evaporate out of the oil more effectively.

Thanks! Not much going on here. ATV/Camping season last summer was a wash because of daily rain storms and it looks like the snow has gone to sh*t for snowmobiling. The only constant appears to be work and I'm grateful I still have a job.

Sound like a really nice truck good lick with it. Good to hear you are keeping the Diesel Jeeps around.. Mine is my daily driver too and I don't own a gas vehicle either. Disposing of old gas from the lawn mower and trimmer were a problem for me too. last year because my yard isn't very big I got rid of all the gas power equipment. I got an electric trimmer and Reel mower.

I, too, got another diesel. Well, ok, it's our third.

Started with a Jetta TDI in 2001. Bought the CRD new in 2005 and started using it to tow the travel trailer we got in 2008. Fun times.

In 2014 we added a BMW X5 35d to tow that trailer, planning to use the Jeep for a daily driver and occasional tow car.

Sadly, the Jeep has just bitten the big one, but the BMW throbs onward, as does the Jetta. All three have impressed with their torque, fuel economy, and have been wonderful to drive.

Never buying a gasser again.
