I was curious if anyone else had an egt/boost gauge and what values are you getting? My egt probe is pre-turbo and my boost probe is in my intake manifold. I dont seem to be able to hold boost above 18 psi and my egt values will climb pretty high, but I never let them get above 1300 while subtracting 200 because its pre-turbo.

My boost at wot is 19-22. Egt pre turbo when I tow will get about 1100. Cruising at 55 they will be about 600. I'm straight piped with no cat

Sounds like you have a boost issue. Check the hoses going from turbo to intercooler, and intercooler to engine. Also check the intercooler where the hose from turbo to intercooler, slips onto the intercooler. The plastic in that area is known to crack, if it looks oily its cracked.

My boost can peak pretty high because I run the GDE full torque tune (like 25psi if pushed hard), but generally I don't watch it much. I do pretty much drive to the EGT, which is pre-turbo. I have my EGT gauge alarm set for 1100, and never let it get higher, ever. I'll drop out of over-drive to let it drop back, I'm not in a hurry especially when towing. I try to always keep it below 1000 in normal conditions and my highway cruise is between 700-900 depending on terrain and load. My exhaust is original pipes but restrictions removed and straight through Magnaflow. Transmission temp is important too, I run two sensors via a switch to my gauge so I can check hot side and after cooler temps. I keep the hot side below 180 always, the aftermarket cooler usualy knocks at least 20f off on return to the pan. Usual temp is below 160F always.

The stock tune only requests 19.1 psi max which occurs at 2200 rpm. Before and after this it is requesting less and is below 18 psi in most cases. It doesnt sound like there is anything particularly wrong.

Anyone who sees over this is seeing a boost spike from the turbo overshooting or overboost from the VNT not properly controlling boost.

I think you're correct, I see a spike to about 25psi then next second it's dropping to 20-ish, which tells me the vacuum gets controlled (lessened) and releases the vnt.
