What are the options to get the shift points back? I tow about 3000lbs occasionally. My billet FTC is being installed today. Has anyone created a DIY TCM tune?

GDE does TCM tuning.

I think others have tried a hemi pickup TCM?

Never heard of a DIY tune for that module?

I just got GDE's Eco Trans tune on mine and its a good upgrade. It readjusts the shift points, but it also seems to adjust shift firmness and things like that so it makes for a much smoother drive. Additionally, downshifting to 3rd or 2nd for engine braking does not slam into gear like it did on the stock tune. Its a nice smooth downshift now. The one problem with the Eco tune is that it does upshift pretty early into 4th locked and 5th locked. But, it does seem to kick back down easier than the stock tune did so it would work for occasional towing, it just might not be booty convenient.

I would not use the RAM tcm for towing. I had one for a while and it was good but getting full power out of the engine will be tough. Basically, the RAM tcm still thinks its hooked up to a gas V8 and therefore will downshift so far as to send the CRD past 4000 rpm. If you go to climb a hill and mat the accelerator it will do this too you.

My suggestion, GDE Eco or Towing trans tune. Otherwise you gotta go find a Pre-F37 TCM which will probably be impossible.

I'm very happy with my GDE Trans tune. They have a towing tune, but I'm on the original TC, and I wasn't going to risk it. My TC now locks up at 56-57 MPH, and the shifts are much smoother than before. I think the TC also locks up in 4th gear too. I'm pretty sure I can feel it lock around 45 MPH before I even get into overdrive. I may be making that last part up, but check out their site and read about it's performance.

I'm still very happy with all of my GDE tunes, and I've owned this rig since new. Keith has been a great resource for this Jeep.

Thanks everyone. I ended up with the HEMI RAM TCM....LOVE IT! The TC locks up better, can get 5th gear at 45-50MPH if I pamper it. I know others have had issues with the RAM unit but so far I see absolutely no reason to put the stock unit back on. In fact, I was having some shudder issues with my HD TC which the RAM TCM completely eliminated.
