I have no problems under 1/8 tank

at 1/8 to 3/4 it will only go in to limp mode wile coming off a mountain ( the less fuel it has the faster i can go ) down shifting will instantly trow it in limp mode. But it will keep running fine if i keep a little presser on the throttle peddle ( keeping it from coasting down )

At 3/4 or more fuel it will almost always go in to limp mode when i lift off the throttle even on a flat of going up a hill.

if the needle passes full mark it will start and stay in limp mode.

Wile in limp mode i get a bunch of codes all of witch are low circuit errors on anything on the ASD fuse that has only blown once in 20k miles.

I got it cheap and in multiple pieces and havent had any normal problems except for oily MAS, and it even runs better than any of the other CRDs in my area.

If the codes are all for low voltage, then it's an electrical problem.
Test battery, test alternator, check all wiring connectors and ground connections.

If you really think it's related to fuel level or position of the fuel gauge needle, then the problem may be isolated to the wiring that goes back to the fuel tank.
Could even be a bad fuel tank sending unit.

My 06 is one that does not have a lift pump from the factory, i have one on it now just under the upgraded filter/heater.

My Liberty is an 06 most do not have a lift pump from the factory, i have one on it now just under the upgraded filter/heater.

The fuel sending unit is not bad nor on the circuit that is shorting.

The running guess is the evap is sucking up fuel and shorting out some component in the system but cant find any useful info on it.

I'd be tempted to unplug the fuel sender and see if the limp mode issue goes away. If it does, you've at least isolated the problem.

Bear in mind that the 2006 CRD has a known problem in that the Fuel Filter Head Mounting Bracket clamps down on the harness behind it which can cause fraying and shorting of the wires to chassis. :(

You problem though seems to be more related to the amount of fuel in the tank so you may need to drop the tank (with it nearly empty) and have a good look inside there for gunk and check if the fuel level sensor is moving correctly.

I have checked the wire harness and can see no signs of were, fraying, or pinching.

I have tried running without sending unit but no dice.

The power bridge from a simple bluetooth OBD2 adapter will keep it from going in to limp mode or throwing any codes.

The reason I think evap is ive had other problems with it on other cars with my aggressive mountain driving and evap is usually connected to EGR related systems witch are all on the ASD fuse

The Jeep Liberty Diesel engine does not have a evap system.
The ASD relay/fuse has more to do with key-on and starting of the engine.

It's possible that your problem is related to the BCM or gateway module. Which should be on the drivers side, just below the battery, kinda next to the AC compressor.

As flash says, there is no Evaporative emissions system on the CRD liberty.

What is your battery system voltage doing when the jeep starts running poorly?

What codes are listed?

I will take a look at that now.

(olypopper/What codes are listed?)

I will get a list when I fill up next time.

FYI NO 05-06 CRD came from the factory with a lift pump. The relay, fuse and wiring to under the rear seat is there but that's where they stopped.

Your low fuel runs good, full runs bad is backwards then most or at least mine before I added a in tank lift pump from a Dodge(ram) diesel.

I suspect you have low voltage for whatever reason. With all the various brands of computers in the CRD's it's pretty fussy when the voltage gets low.

But I have no explanation why it's related to fuel level but since you say

The power bridge from a simple bluetooth OBD2 adapter will keep it from going in to limp mode or throwing any codes.

I believe fuel level is coincidental.

Im going crazy looking for a problem, I got this jeep for 2k$ because 8 dealers put the engine back together after a failed tear down to fined the problem that was just rockers. so its hard to say what they have done.

well if electrical side check out is ok (NO CODES) and engine runs fine , then i think you should double check the fuel side , it may be something inside fuel tank , floating and blocking sending unit ?? don't do it but i said this before i did see somebody drive car with fuel can on roof rack ,LOL

just filed up and now its bucking and stalling consistently every few seconds.

P0091, 0093, 0101, 1202, dont know why but it repeats these P0093, 0101

Never had some of these codes but im hoping they lead me to the problem.

P0101 = MAF sensor. Ignore it for now. It's not serious.

The other three codes indicate problems with the high pressure side of the fuel system.
Could be the fuel quantity solenoid (MPROP).
Could be the rail pressure sensor.
Could be something else.

You're gonna have to do some more diagnostics.
First, make sure that you don't have a air-in-fuel problem and that your fuel filter isn't plugged up.
Second, your gonna need some sort of OBD tool/app that can provide sensor data. Specifically fuel rail pressure.
Many of us here use a ELM327 Bluetooth adapter + android phone/tablet + TorquePro app.

does it smoke and misfire ? check injectors , just in case , you can do return flow test .

All problems were fixed with a clean out of the tank and moving fuel lines over from the tank.

Please explain the procedure "moving fuel lines over from the tank". Does your Libby have a lift pump in the fuel tank such as an Airtex?

Glad you got the problem resolved.
