Does it say if its safe to use on diesel engines? I'm not sure but my guess would be NO, its not safe for use on diesels. The best way to actually clean your intake is to remove the whole valve cover/intake manifold and wash it. The second best way is to disable, block, or delete the EGR valve. |

My guess is you will need A LOT. I had my egr blocked at 45k miles and the intake already had 1/4" of crap lining it. I actually just did this on my ecoboost f150 since its direct injected. It made a tremendous amount of smoke so I cannot imagine what the jeep will do. |

If your mileage is where it should be, I would just delete the EGR, and let the CCV oil slowly remove the junk. Well, then again, I initially installed a weeks kit, and scraped the main blockage out with a spoon, that's easy without removing the valve cover. If you do pull the valve cover, do yourself a favor and get new rockers (unless they feel almost new) and ARP head studs ![]() |

I bought a can of that cleaner. It does work, but it is quite expensive - like $15 a can if my memory serves me. And you need a ton of it, and even then you risk just breaking loose large chunks of crap that will have nowhere to go but into the engine. I was using it when I had the intake off the engine and realized I was having little success getting all of the gunk cleaned out from the inside intake runners. The length of the inside 4 intake runners is crazy long. I just ended up taking the whole intake to the machine shop. They cleaned it for just a few dollars (like $20-25). And what I got back was a virtually brand new looking intake - inside and outside. Then I just pumped some cam assembly lube into the cam bearings through the oil feeds while rotating the cams. I rotated the cams by installing the cam gear bolts and then spin the cams slowly with a 3/8 air ratchet. Worked like a charm. Like new intake and pre-lubed cams. |

I wouldn't use that on a valve cover that's attached to a running engine. All that sooty junk will have to go through the intake valves, cylinder, exhaust valves, turbo propeller, muffler and catalytic converter. You'll possibly hit yourself in the head with a bigger bill... If you remove the valve cover, there are much cheaper solvents like gasoline. A bottle brush cleaner will reach almost everywhere. |

If you do pull the valve cover, do yourself a favor and get new rockers (unless they feel almost new) and ARP head studs ![]() X2 on that, mine are cleaned the same way CCV oil, and the myth about the fresh air hose rotting due to oil is not true, I had one break and it was clean and the rubber did not feel any different by the turbo or air filter. Heat and steady movement is the killer of that hose, we need a silicone replacement. Also over tightening that hose down by the turbo is not necessary as the turbo had a good sized barb to hold it on. BTW, the hose that cracked was original. and I only had it out last year for ARP install and it was fine, so I got 10 years out of the fresh air hose with CCV intact all 10 years. |
