X2 on the love/hate thing!!!
When they are good, they are really good and a pleasure own and drive, :D but when they are bad, they can be really bad and make you question your sanity as to why you ever bought this enigma of a vehicle... :banghead:

Well my first experience working on it was experiencing the stripped out oil drain plug hole. No crush washer.

Aw, man! Hate that for you. See: love/hate. The more you drive it the less this bad event will bother.

Some on this forum have installed a permanent drain valve in place of the drain plug so you never have to put a wrench on it again...
Fumoto makes a good setup http://fumotousa.com/, they can be bought on line in many different thread configurations and I believe NAPA carries a line of permanent oil drain valves as well?

Just a couple weeks ago I fixed my drain pan with the same problem. Bought Autozone spark plug repair kit with solid inserts not heli-coil. Used the shortest insert. Tap goes in without drilling. Cleaned threads with solvent and put insert in with hard setting gasket sealant on outside. Then used tool to set it in place. Bought new m14x1.25 plug when done. If fumoto valve get f-104.

Yup, I did the spark plug thread repair trick, thanks to the info I found on here. Unfortunately autozone was out of stock and all I could find at orielly was the heli-coil type. It is working for now. I am probably going to order the valve to have on hand for the next oil change. Glow plugs, timing belt, and egr block off are next on the list. Poor map sensor looked like a chunk of charcoal.
