bshooter wrote: Has anyone used this in there CRD...?? http://www.thoroughbreddiesel.com/edge/insight-cts2.htm I would probably mess with the transmission after about 20 minutes like most plug OBD gauges do to our CRDs? Also consider there are not many sensors to monitor on our CRDs, I tried with my Ultragauge, not many gauges, plus it would lock up and throw an error. |

For about $100 you can have the same features by getting a Android 7" tablet, a ELM327 bluetooth adapter, and the TorquePro app. |

Btw, if you can be so kind to detail a bit what issues did you have with ultragauge, I'd appreciate it. I have an ultragauge and I was planning to use it in my 2005, but never had a chance yet. |

In my opinion, it gets annoying fast to do this regularly. But it's fine every now and then. I also thought to have a cheap android phone dedicated for this, but I'm afraid of stupid people breaking in. Would be great for a gauge like ultragauge or edge to work properly. |

bshooter wrote: Has anyone used this in there CRD...?? http://www.thoroughbreddiesel.com/edge/insight-cts2.htm I have not used it yet but I did contact Edge directly about it. They said it would give engine parameters for everything monitored by pcm as well as trams temp from tcm. The only thing you'll need to add is a thermocouple for EGT and an oil temp probe if you want to monitor that. |

You can prevent stupid people from breaking in by: 1. turning off wifi. Rogue access points are the primary reason that people's devices get hacked and data stolen. 2. dont store any personal information on the tablet. This way, if someone does break in, there is nothing for them to steal. In this particular case, bluetooth is more secure. Bluetooth is a one-to-one connection. Once the two devices are paired no other device can connect. And even if someone else did connect to your ELM327 they couldn't do anything to your CRD except for maybe read and clear your codes. Besides, I doubt you would leave the thing plugged in when you are not actively using it. |

The only thing the UG would pick up was what you dash gauges display, and you could use it for MPG, boost, RP, TPS, but after 10 or 20 minutes the display would show ERR, I did not have it in there long enough to have the weird transmission problems that others have had with OBD scanners connected while driving. Here is a thread, with more links to other threads. viewtopic.php?f=5&t=74769&hilit=ultragauge |
