I had been running the GDE eCO tune from 80,000 miles right up to the valve drop that killed my engine at 200,000 miles. Around 180,000 miles the shudder got bad, so I replaced the TC with a Euro unit, and did the tranny pump thing as well. Completely fixed the shudder and ran like a top, even when towing a 5,000 lb trailer.

Sadly, the destruction from the dropped valve ended my run, and The Mighty Jeep is being parted out. With only about 20,000 miles on that Euro TC and transmission pump, they are about broken in now. If somebody wants 'em and can help me pull them out of the vehicle, I'm sure we can work a deal. Other parts available, btw.

Hi everyone

I have a 2005 CRD, I've done all the mods from the noob section, I also have an electric fan and I presently run the GDE eco tune. I have the hot tune too but my weak torque converter doesn't like it !!!!

I also read so many thread about the torque converter, so many numbers and where to find it it's confusing. I am wondering if someone has just bring the TC to a shop and get it upgraded ??

I am a bit lost , any information about the 545rfe built and the TC would be apreciated

thanks

Seb

The Euro TC in my CRD has never shuddered with the GDE Full torque tune and my pre f-37 transmission controller that has shift points about 5 mph lower in all 5 gears.
So I wouldn't think you have an euro TC. There's no way to tell from the outside if you have a stock or Euro TC. the only difference is the cushion springs inside. The 545rfe had air leak problems in it early stages and the diesel having full torque at a low RPM that a Hemi would just be getting off idle it was a problem. Some of the leaks were cured by the reduced parts front pump.

Search older threads, there are tons about TC's and transmissions.

Trust me, it's not always as easy as upgrading the TC. The pump has two or three TC control valves in it, at least one of those is prone to early failure resulting in shudder and lock-up problems. I replaced my old TC, which I suspect is the Euro from the PN, with a HD unit and still had shudder.

I have an 06 I put a Euro TC and the Transgo HD2 kit in it.

After the dealer trans relearn I cant complain. Shifts up to the overdrive gears quick and shifts very smooth and fast. No shudder at all. (I am running the resistor inline)

I had shudder issues in mine once I went to the GDE Hot Tune, so I replaced the TC with the Euro model and haven't had any issues since. BTW, my vehicle did not get the F-37 "upgrade."

Naturist; for some reason my PM's won't 'send' to you.
Please email me regarding parts, as I urgently need 2 injectors, but may buy all 4. Also interested in your ARP's, more.

Many thanks.

Pump PN is 68009879AB. I presume that includes the gasket.

Ouch, this is the first time I've seen the part # for the pump. I was naive and though it would be cheaper maybe 100-200, not $400-450.

Your best bet is to buy a used low mileage tranny from 2008-2009 Dodge 1500 5.7l out of a wrecking yard. I got one for $450 delivered. It will have a superior TC and the updated front pump.
