Does anyone know how many of the CRDs are still on the road

(enter joke about the rest being towed home...nevermind)

I was curious how many of the original 10,500 US KJ CRDs made and delivered, how many are still "alive"?

I thought that around 25,000 units were sold between the two model years. Double what they expected.
I have one going strong!

It is my understanding that 5,000 were made in '05, and 5,500 in '06.

You could search websites for junkyards and such to find how many are NOT on the road.

You should get a silver limited from Rhode Island to complete your collection.

Way back in the beginning there was lots of discussion that never reached a solid conclusion about the number of 05/06 KJ CRDs actually sold in the USA, not to be confused with the North American market. IIRC DCJ hoped to sell about 5,000 per year but sold more but how many more no one seems to know and as far as I know DCJ never said although MrMopar64 might could make an educated guess.

As to how many are still on the road?????

That's like handing a bottle to a drunk! Seriously though, I need a good dropped valve or something to curb my problem :5SHOTS:

My understanding was that the original number was between 15,000 and 18,000 sold in North America. Obviously with the population we know about in the junkyards, there could be a significantly less number still out there. If I had to guess, I would say between 10,000 and 12,000 still out there.

Some one should organize some sort of CRD remnant BBQ. Mine is working better than when I bought it 5 years ago.

These numbers would make sense to me just based on how many I see. I had a 2006 Pontiac GTO of which ~40,000 were made and I see them a bit more than CRD's.

When I saw CRD and BBQ in one sentence, I though we were going to discuss cremations...

That's the Gassers usually. I didn't know Pintos were still being made :D

No need to bring the charcoal briquettes, just bring a Gasser KJ or a CRD with the fuel heater plugged in.

I am seriously glad that I don't own the gasser though, I assume that the CRD won't explode if rear-ended :?:

oops, I have no idea how many CRDs are left...

In the NA market the KJ CRD sold roughly 25,000 units between 2005-2006. The vast majority of GDE tuned vehicles are still on the road and running strong. Coincidence???

Not a coincidence: it's engineering!
