My dealer told me he wont perform TSB 18-008-06 even though it applies to my vehicle. He says there not a specific problem to fix, therefore he wont do the work. The TSB says it's for...

Improvement to torque converter operation and durability.
Improvement to glow plug operation and durability.
Improvement to Security Key Immobilizer (SKIM) system operation...

If he wont do the work am I putting my torque converter and glow plugs at risk of premature failure? Should I try to find a dealer that will help me?

yes the TSB also clearly states to be done at next service.

go over his head or just call another dealer.

I guess I'll have to look for another dealer. My service manager's supervisor agreed with him.

I should have mentioned that my Jeep was at the dealer for another issue when they told me they wouldn't do the TSB.

Find another dealer. I just had mine in for 25k service. I asked them about TSB and they called DCX who told them to do it. They would not do it without calling (to be sure they got paid, i'm sure), but they did it once the call was made.

The problem is that other dealers are further away.

My dealer is saying nothing is actually broken or wrong with the vehicle so nothing needs to be done. The items in the TSB seem preventative in nature (“operation and durability”). With their logic I shouldn't ever change my oil until the engine seizes up!

If it would be really rough to get to another dealer, have you considered calling or emailing DC and let them know that the dealer refused to do the preventative TSB? Are they 5 star? 2 star? If DC calls them or sends you a "yes they will do it" email, they'd do it, but bitterly. (which might make it worth driving to another dealer)

What dealer? (so I can avoid/see if I know someone working there)
The dealer here in Frederick was friendly but I have no applicable TSB to have done yet that I know of.

Have you ever seen a Jeep dealer that wasn't 5-star? This is quite the marketing gimmick.

What is the build date of your Jeep? Almost all have 18-008-06/18-009-06 reflash available. Mine and several others on the forum needed the TCM replaced to get the reflash to take, was like pulling teeth to get it done. My dealer still claims 18-018-05 is current. But WTH, mine's about to go to a lemon law attorney if I don't get it straightened out.

Am I allowed to post the name of the dealer here?

The build date of my Jeep is Feb. 06. This TSB goes from the build date of the motor. Can anyone tell me where I find this date?

I don't understand why dealers don't want to do TSBs. They get paid for the work.

I don't feel comfortable bashing my dealer on line by name as I might see them in a courtroom in the near future.

The TSB's are usually issued by build date of the vehicle or VIN number. They supposidly go by the VIN number of the vehicle which is burned into the EMC. This update is done live/on-line, computer reads the VIN and tells what updates are available and downloads them (as with Windows XP). At least that is what my dealer told me. Thus if they don't take the time to plug you in, they won't know. Starting to wonder if dealers are playing CYA and don't want to touch the thing with so many transmissions starting to come apart.

18-008-06/18-009-06 were both released in mid April '06 so it should apply.
