Since buying the CRD, I noticed a bit of a smell of diesel when driving it. But considering my last diesel (old '83 rabbit) did the same thing, I didn't give it much mind.

Today it started smelling worse... I took off the "lawn mower cover" and took a look around. The area near the fuel filter was wet with diesel. My neighbor, the guy who owns PT Performance, looked at it and reached and gently poked something. This plastic fitting was being held on by only a wisp of plastic. When he touched it, it simply fell off. Now there's diesel all over the driveway.

Further inspection showed this must have been happening for a while now. There's diesel along the driver's side of the undercarriage in the rear wheel well on the driver side.

Explains my 21-23MPG limit... :)

This biggest @ss-suckage is that my wife and I were packing it up or road trip for our wedding anniversary. Looks like that plan's either cancelled, or we take the XJ (redneck express yee haw!) for our road trip. At 16-18MPG... joy of joys...

So now I sit waiting for the tow truck to arrive to haul my KJ up to Renton Jeep... Bleah.

Has anyone else experienced this fuel leak? It appears to be a plastic modul near the firewall, between the fuel rail and fuel filter.
