Driving home Libby died, wouldn't crank. Once I got it out over the road and tried to start it I realized dead battery. I put a Odyssey in about 3 months ago. Check to see the battery light was working. So I get it back to my shop and threw the battery charger on it and went to bed. Got up and when I went to start it acted like a starter that has a bad spot in it, I tried it again and it started. Checked output and it is putting 13.8. Check for an excessive draw and nothing. Removed battery cable while running, all good. Any ideals?

Check and make sure both ( + / - ) battery connections are clean, with no corrosion, and making good tight connections. Also check battery cable connections at the opposite ends at the grounding points and at the + terminal connections and make sure all is good and tight. Check main cable connection on starter and make sure it is tight as well...

Even new batteries can fail.
As stated check all the battery and chassis/engine grounding points are good.

Try swap over the Starter Relay with an identical one next to it.
Did you measure the drain on the battery when turned off by using an Amp meter in series with the battery?

Any funnies on a 2006 CRD merits having a look at the wiring harness behind the Fuel Filter Head Mounting Bracket...the LHD 2006 CRD has a known problem that the Bracket can cut into the wiring harness going behind the bracket and being shorted to chassis. :(
