How can I tell if my 2006 liberty CRD has 5v or 7v glow plugs without taking them out? Thanks. I am new here. So forgive my dumb questions.

There should be a colored ring near the end where the plug slides over it:

White = Bosch 7v Ceramics (original equipment)
Red= Bosch 5V Steel, Jeep's replacement for the ceramics
No Ring = Etencno Steel (aftermarket)

You kinda have to take them out. All the rest of the components are the same. FYI: The Etecno 7v metal plugs have a black ring.

It is easy to get to the #1 plug however, just pull the alternator (3 bolts) and flip it upside down behind the battery - you don't even need to unplug it.
The #1 plug is under the alternator, that cap is just clipped in place, it pulls straight back. Then a 10mm socket to remove the plug. The voltage will be stamped on the side of the plug. If the tip is NOT tapered, then you have a ceramic plug and they should all be removed and thrown away. Many people have had severe engine damage from the ceramic plugs breaking inside the engine. Very bad.

If they are tapered, then they were replaced with either the 7v metal or 5v metal by someone.

Can I look for the relay and if it's there, it is a 5v system? Would that work? If so, where would the relay be? :)

Relay is the same for both 5v and 7v. The programming in the ECU is different. Best way to tell us to pull a plug and look.
