Just wondering what kind of number to expect if I unplug MAF sensor. Thanks.

You will probably get a dozen different answers, but...

For me, I didnt get any MPG gain.
But the real reason for disabling, blocking, or deleting the EGR valve is to keep the soot out of the intake and improve engine life.

I thought unplugging the maf didn't really disable the egr?

I didn't see a difference after I put a block plate on my egr. You really need a tune to see any kind of difference so that timing and boost can be dialed in to get the most out of the fuel.

Nil, that goes along with installing the elbow kit but if elbow kit eliminates future break down of erroneous parts it's fine with me.

It depends if your EGR is currently not sealing completely when it is closed. Some people have had a persistent (but moderate) boost leak with the EGR disabled electronically (or unplugged) because the valve itself did not completely seal shut. I personally believe that none of them ever DO seal perfectly when they are closed, and that the elbow obviously will offer benefits by removing this boost leak.

Results may be more placebo effect than measurable, but depending on the level of boost leak, it could be good for 1-3 mpg overall.

Many customers report fuel economy gains within the range of 1-3 MPG. One of our European customers reported an increase of 2.7 MPG, calculated over a distance of 2,300 miles before and after:

Unplugging the MAF or getting a tune will not 100% eliminate any EGR leak-by in either direction; either exhaust soot into the intake or boost pressure loss backwards through the EGR valve into the exhaust manifold . The only sure way is to install an EGR block-off plate/plug or install the Weeks elbow kit which completely eliminates the EGR/FCV crap off the engine with the latter being the best option if possible.
As Geordi has said and I totally agree, I doubt any EGR valve is 100% sealed when closed!!!! :grim:

I didn't see a MPG improvement, but I was already running a GDE FT ECO tune when I removed the EGR. The benefit of the elbow kit is removal of potential leak points (boost and water) and mechanical components that can fail. For these reasons, it's worth the money I paid. If you don't have the GDE tune, then it will stop the depositing of additional soot in the intake tract and could possibly boost MPG.
