Something broke in the old engine, can't get it to turn now.
Is it better to pull with the trans?
I guess I get at the torque converter bolts thru the starter hole?
Any help is appreciated!
Thanks, Leon

It's probably best to pull the engine by itself without the transmission. There's a rubber plug above the starter that you remove to access the torque converter bolts.

How many miles on it? Could it possibly be a broken timing belt with busted rockers? I would take the top end apart and rule it out before pulling the engine. If it's a confirmed valve drop then it's pull time

I did the timing belt a year ago. Since it's stuck I'll probably have to pull the head to get it to turn.

It sucks pulling the trans out by itself self, it fact its only slightly more work to pull the motor and trans than just the trans, and actually less frustrating I think.

I'm of the opinion that both at the same time is the way to go, firewall clearance is tight, but workable.

Keep in mind there are a number of hard to reach bolts, and the wiring harness and dipstick tube that you have to fight underneath the vehicle.

I have to replace the trans in CRD#1 again and I am not looking forward to it, its a really crappy job.
