Hi all,

Anyone using Amsoil - 10W40 HP Synthetic Oil??

I live in NZ and I am struggling to find full synthetic oil that is 10w40 and has API CH-3 or CH-4 and ACEA A3/B3. This is as per my owners manual.

The Amsoil is the only one I can find that meets all the specs Inc synthetic. All the others are semi synthetic.

Other full synthetic options are
Amsoil Premium DEO 5W-40
Liqui Moly Super Leichlauf 10W40

Thanks in advance.

Chris

Alot of us in the u.s. Have switched to 5w40 oil, and i believe that is what is reccomended in europe.

I have used the liqui-moly and thought it was good stuff, was just expensive to get here.

Was it the super Leichlauf one? My only concern is it has the following approvals:
Approvals ($14 per litre)
ACEA A3 ; ACEA B4 ; API CF ; API SL ; MB-Freigabe 229.1 ; VW 501 01 ; VW 505 00

Amsoil ($30 nzd per litre)

•API SL, SJ, SH, SG
• API CI-4 Plus, CH-4, CF, CF-2
• ISO-L-EMA • Caterpillar ECF-1
• JASO MA (Motorcycle) • MAN 271/3275 • MTU Type 2
• Cummins 20071/20072/20076/20077 • VDS-2, VDS
• Mack EO-M+ • ACEA A3/B3, E3, E5 • MB 228.3, 229.1
•Detroit Diesel 93K214

As you can see the Amsoil ticks all the boxes

$30 per litre?! I think I paid less than $20 (US) for a gallon last time I bought oil. Might it be worth us shipping some to you - how much is the postage?

Can you find any kind of Shell synthetic 5w-40 for Diesel engines?
A lot of us here in US use Shell Rotella 5w-40.

Yeah I know. Been searching on the forum. No luck here in NZ unfortunately. Shell helix is the closest but it only has a rating of API CF.

I think I'm going to go with th e Amsoil. Ticks all the box's and meets spec.

Now next question (sorry) does everyone use engine flush before oil changes. If so which one. Amsoil is available here.

Don't flush. Just change oil and filter.
And if you can do it while the oil is hot, even better.

Just my two cents.

Yes, but that's $20 US per litre; we're getting a gallon for $20. That's 4 litres.
