Hi all. Just want to give you some experiences of owning a 2005 CRD out here in Calif. First off there aren't any real mechanics out here, even the Jeep dealerships didn't want to do a T/B Water/ pump replacement. Found a fairly close shop that said he could do it so I bought all the parts from IDPars the & tools off e-bay. After four days he called and said he couldn't do it. "He just removed the fan & shroud? Front T/B cover was off along with the A/C pump & P/S pump? He'd removed the T/B with only marking the cams, No pins or cam lock. But had put the T/B back on & drove it around the block. I tried to put the pins in at his shop but only one pin would go in. Towed it home. My past experience. Was a mechanic for Carrier refrigeration where I worked on Perkins & Mercedes engines that powered the refrigeration systems. Also worked on cars here at the house. Thank goodness I didn't sell my tools & have downloaded the manual. Didn't want to do the job myself at 67 but have found out it's not all that bad.. I did find the exhaust pin had been bent so bought the Miller pins from Mopar/SnapOn. The kit from e-bay is cheep and would suggest renting the tools from Sasquatch if you have to do it. Second order from IDPats All the parts to replace the rockers since I thought the shop might have broken some the rockers. After removing didn't find any broken ones? With lots of Geordi's help along with all the posts from the CRD group I've replaced the head bolts with ARP's. Was able to re-install the A/C pump. "Not fun!" New water pump & thermostat, new glow plugs. Have re-installed the power steering pump & bracket but don't know the torque of the bracket to block & 3 bolts that mount the pump? Any help would be appreciated. |

Thank you. Had an idea of looking into bolt sizes & markings. This will help allot with the rest of the install. I seem to break things for some reason if not. Lol |
