So I am staring down the barrel of a rocker replacement job after, I think, my timing belt slipped (see my previous thread). I know that the rockers are designed to fail, but I am wondering if that is really effective enough to completely preserve the valves? Even with broken rockers I would expect a bent or broken valve on most other interference engines.

For those who have dealt with this a lot, when the pistons hit the valves, how common is it really that the rockers are the only part damaged? When you replace the rockers, do you also do a compression test or something to check for bent valves?

If you have broken valve rockers you should remove the corresponding valves to make sure the steams are straight. any slight deviation from being straight can cause a valve to drop.
