So i did this approx. 3000 km trip and jeep performed wonderfully just perfect. On my way back i blew a turbo hose ... my guess is long continuos operating softened the hose and made it easier to pop. Took me some time to find it but was glad it wasnt the turbo itself.

The failure happend at about 2-3am and in the middle of nowheres canada. I managed to run the jeep for about 300km and got home but boy did it smoke the sh*t out of everyone behind me :D


I have a set of idparts hoses on the way, i find it weird that the one hose was not wrapped in anyway. Have any of you used heat wrap on the hoses ? to just keep them from expanding as much ?

If you get a good set of silicone boost hoses you really do not need to wrap them unless you just want to. They do not expand enough to warrant wrapping. You are only running 22-23 psig boost MAX.
The OEM rubber hoses were more susceptible to expanding under boost and they also would deteriorate and crack due to the oil exposure from the CCV... :roll:
Silicone hoses do not have these issues... :rockon:

You also do not need to use that factory "chinese finger puzzle" nonsense, that is supposed to be an abrasion resistor for the factory hoses, but all it ends up being is a filth-catcher.

I made one using aluminum tube and silicone adapters. It worked good and looked good. Only problem was that there was no place to to attach the CCV hose. Had to use the EHM.
Because I wanted to use a Provent and have a fully functional CCV, I scrapped that project.

Yeah, I looked at that too, and there wasn't an easy answer. Part of the problem is the size of the tubing and the sharpness of the turns. That is a REALLY tight space.

If there was a way to 3D-print something in silicone, we could do it that way, but I haven't found anything like that. Other projects have been more pressing anyway, and at $60 every 75k miles or so it isn't really a huge thing.

That isn't a bad idea. Nice service interval, and pretty much as long as you don't mess with it (and why would you normally) it should last that long before melting completely at the bottom.
