Post subject:  Etecno 7v head wobble

Hey all,

Just dropped in a new set of etecno glow plugs and thanks to this forum the job was easy.

Quick question, before connecting the plug harness to the plug head I gave them a bit of a wipe down and noticed that all heads wobble. Not excessive to rattle but there is movement. I torqued them to spec being 9 ft pound.

Is there play in them or are mine damaged.

Also I took the ceramics out and after 100k kms they look ok.

I know fuel sprays on them but what causes the whiteness on the tip. I didn't touch them at all. Plug 1 to 4 top to bottom in pic below.

Cheers

Chris

The Etecno situation sounds similar to my situation, only when I torqued mine down and the heads came loose, they lost continuity. IDParts sent an RMA without problem though. Currently waiting for the next set to arrive.

Have yours worked without problem since? Does the wobbling go away after some use?

IMPORTANT! :!:
Before you connect the wiring, you need to test the continuity of each glow plug and make sure they do not have the same problem that GordnadoCRD has experienced with his new Etecno plugs....

Read his post and about the problem he experienced-Link!!!! >http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=85270&hilit

Thanks for the replies. I did not do a continuity check. Don't know you had too or how to do one.

I've has mine installed since July and had no problems. We had a cold winter and the car managed to start just fine.

Cheers

No CEL = good. You clearly don't have a continuity issue.

Now, when you say you had a cold winter exactly how cold are you talking aking about, 0°C cold or -30°C cold? Just curious how cold these plugs will hold up to because earlier reviews weren't exactly encouraging.

No cel or codes after the install.

I live in New zealand so it's not as cold as you all see. -7 degrees celcius was the coldest it was this winter.

I hope it helps. I got mine from id parts in July.

If you've followed the other thread I tested a set and I too saw the wobble that you describe. I am submitting an inquiry to etecno regarding the wobble and post their repsonse.

These plugs have a two-year warranty, so, if anything happens and any of them fail prematurely the warranty has you covered.

Hey cevans, thanks for the reply and the info...I just posted on that thread too.

Thanks for testing and keeping us in the loop.

Cheers
