My Liberty threw a generic P0700 error code and wouldn't shift out of 2nd gear. It also hard shifted from 1st to 2nd. I replaced both speed sensors and had my mechanic replace the pressure sensor since his code reader was able to pick up a more specific High Pressure code (not sure what the code number is). We are still getting the high pressure code and high pressure has been confirmed with a mechanical guage. The four transmission shops my mechanic uses have never come across this issue so we are at a standstill trying to diagnose the problem aside from taking out the transmission and tearing into it.

Anybody have any ideas what would cause too high a line pressure in the 5-45 RFE transmission?

I've scoured the internet looking for answers but nothing but kits to boost pressure???

TIA
Gary

This is just a wild guess. Does is have the ram tcm?? They do raise the line pressure and perhaps has something to do with it

Could be a bad regulator valve in the pump.

Or could be a bad line pressure control solenoid in the solenoid pack.

No, it does not have the ram tcm but it does have the GDE towing tuned tcm.

Thanks, I'll pass that along to my mechanic.

My jeep threw a generic transmission code at around 290k. I changed the sump filter and the code went away.

My mechanic found the problem a few days after I started this thread. Came down to a bad connection between the TCM and the connector harness. I'm fortunate my mechanic is also my nephew and wouldn't send it to the transmission shop before he exhausted all his knowledge, otherwise I probably would have had to buy a new transmission. Thanks to all that replied.
