I picked up a used 2005 CRD KJ with a noisy bottom end and very little power.

Any ideas on what it could be? I'm thinking big ends and main bearings although I don't know why these would have gone as it's not excessive mileage and doesn't seem to be a common issue - in fact in all my googling I can't find anything on that.

Any links on how to remove the engine would be useful before I start pulling parts off that don't need to be.

Cheers, Duncan

You could start by pulling the valve cover to see if the problem is broken rockers.
Then maybe pull the head to see how the pistons an liners look.
Then decide if you want to pull the block out.
