Did a search on here and in the service manual but came up empty. I cannot seem to be able to get the rear bearing out of the carrier, is there a tool or trick that I need to use to remove/ install these?

I believe that the front and rear main bearings are 1 piece and pressed in.
You would need a special tool to press them out.

A large socket of the right size + hammer might get it out. But I would prefer to use a press.
Maybe consult your local machine shop.

thanks, the front and rear bearings are two pieces, the front presses into the block with VM.1073. The rear goes into a 1 piece carrier. It looks like it will have to be pressed in but i thought i would look here to see if i was missing something. I guess i will be bringing it to work with me tomorrow to press out the old one.

After you remove the axle shaft....
Supposedly requires 6310-9, a Bearing Foot removal tool. Although any bearing puller would probably work.

Front bearings are unitized with the ABS sensors for the front wheel hubs.

Hexus, I think you are talking about different bearings. I am talking about the rear main bearing on the crankshaft.

If you can, please post pitures of the front and rear main bearings and how to remove/install them.

They are fairly easy to press out with the correct size piece of dowel and a light tap with a hammer . Pressing in the front I made a drift slightly smaller than the bore of the 2 bearing shells and with some threaded rod passing through the crankcase, wound the rod up pushing the bearing into the case.
The rear is much more difficult. The carrier being aluminium can easily be damaged. I heated the carrier up in a hot oven before pressing the shells in.

On the rear main i ended up pressing out the bearing with a hydraulic press. I tried using an arbor press and it would not budge. I plan on heating it up and pressing it back in this afternoon.

Pressed in the rear bearing, heated it up and used the hydraulic shop press to press it in. Took a few tries to get it started and make sure the hole was lined up but once i got it started it pressed in with ease.

Was that the only bearing that you replaced? Just curious was it damaged?

I am replacing all of the bearings as i am putting in a new crank. i spun the rear most connecting rod bearing. the rear main seal was pitted when i removed it, you can see it in the photos that i posted. The rest of the bearings don't look that bad but i will upload some close up pics for comparison.
