Any idea where I can get new torque converter bolts? I assume I can't reuse old bolts, is this known to be true?

When I bought my Euro TC it came with new bolts. When I replaced my Euro with a Hemi TC, I reused the bolts. Be sure to add blue loctite to the threads and you should be OK.

With the hemi tc, do you have any issues with it? Does it have any problems at highway speed? What is the hemi stall speed? I am asking because a friend of mine was saying if it has a higher stall speed, it could be issues at highway speeds causing it to have issues with lockup. Im about the finally pull the trigger and replace my whole transmission.

A "stock" Hemi TC is supposed to be a lower stall speed.
Many aftermarket TCs advertise a higher stall speed.

I bought one from Florida Torque Converters and it was advertised as a "lower" stall speed. But I haven't installed it yet.

The Hemi TC stall is lower than stock or Euro. The increase in engagement while unlocked is much better IMO.

They're not TTY bolts, so they should be reusable.

There's a big thread where GMCTD explains a lot of the particulars.

I am looking for new bolts also, would it be worth getting arp bolts or would generic grade 8 bolts be fine? i was looking at these arp's: http://arp-bolts.com/kits/ARPkit-detail ... ordID=1584

Be aware - the height of "normal" bolts is too tall for the space that the torque converter bolts ride past. For reasons that only Chrysler knows, they made that cover with baffles in it that restrict the size of bolt heads. The factory bolts are grade 8, but have a thinner head profile. You must match this height if you get something else.

FWIW, I used stock bolts from a dealer (B/c one had gone missing) and just lathered them up with blue locktite. DO NOT USE RED unless you are a glutton for punishment. A clean converter bolt hole and plenty of blue locktite will be more than sufficient. The torque is also fairly low, IIRC the book calls for just 18 lb-ft or so. I may have gone a bit more than that to 25, but still not that much.

No gorilla. Just tight.

I just came across that thread the other day ... lots of interesting stuff, had to read through that first post like 3 times to get everything. It's here if anyone's curious: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=25447
