So what happened with this, any update? I see IDParts have a decent promo on the Etecno1 plugs. Worth risking?

As far as I know the wobble issue still exists. The replacement set has this feature, but has proper continuity, so I expect them to operate properly. although this rebuild isn't to that stage yet. I haven't heard whether Cevans has gotten a response from the factory regarding his inquiry.

Hope I did not make a $ mistake? Replaced my ceramic glow plugs yesterday with the steel Etecno1 7v glow plugs from IDParts.
After installing I noticed the terminal tops do have a little bit of looseness in all 4 of them.
No DTC's tripped when I started engine, and measuring resistance with a Fluke digital meter, they seem to be real close to the OEM ceramics.

Talked to IDParts about this issue and was told a little bit of wobble is normal...
And I was told they have not gotten a response on this issue from the manufacturer...

Time will tell! :juggle:

All the 7v ceramics looked to be in perfect shape, no cracks or problems found!
Anyone wants them, let me know...

I doubt if it's too much for an issue for you in GA 8).

Etecno1 don't respond to any questions, their customer service is clearly lacking. Looks like I'll be getting a set of 5V Bosch plugs. Now, whether to get GDE to update my tune or risk running them at 7V?

My response to a PM:
A concern:
Quote:
My biggest concern, exchanging one bad design problem for another!
Getting rid of the ceramics with their known issue of breaking off and falling into the combustion chamber and reeking havoc
vs
Etecno1's with their known issue of loose top connector pins and poor cold start performance...

If an improved and updated version of the Etenco1's is planed for the future and will be replacing the current version, and if IDParts knows this, I wish they would at least let us know so better informed decisions could be made....

Hey everyone -

With the holidays and such I lost track of this thread, my apologies.

I am in contact with Etecno often and have met with them in Europe to discuss these issues. They tell me they are constantly improving designs based on feedback whenever possible. The latest batch do not have as much "wobble" as the ones that started this thread do. I do not have knowledge of a "Version 2.0" of this plug that is just around the corner, however.

I have spoken with GDE multiple times about better glow plug programming. I even got Etecno to provide me with a duty cycle chart, but, GDE wasn't able/interested in making a "cold starting" tune.

I take the cold starting problems with these Jeep REALLY seriously. My Jeep (which I recently sold) was TERRIBLE - ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE. I have a garage and if it didn't stay in the garage overnight it was NOT going to work the next day. I had 5V Bosch plugs. The new owner is experiencing similar problems.

How cold was it in your garage overnight?

If Etecno1 manages to bring a steel tipped glow plug that performs similar to the ceramics to market at a good price, they will own this market, I think. Bosch will only have the market of the people that switched to 5v programming, and don't want to switch back.

I suspect if it was technically feasible to produce a steel tipped glow plug that performs similar to the ceramic that Bosch/Chrysler would have chosen this route for the ceramic replacement rather than bringing us an upgrade that requires a complete retrofit.

Shortly after my previous post, I equipped a set of Etecno1 GX2123 glow plugs from IDParts.com.
Thought I would revisit this, because they made an immediate improvement in performance, and have performed flawlessly, for well over 2 years.
